“Gospel” is a specifc style or genre of music that you can identify by hearing it, even without the religious-themed lyrics. It is based on major keys, lots of vocal harmonies, ascending arpeggios, usually a fast 4/4 tempo, and tends to be heavy on the organ playing. To oversimplify, think of the church scene with James Brown in the movie “The Blues Brothers”.

“Christian music” on the other hand refers to just about ANY genre of music with Christian-themed lyrics thrown on top, or sometimes even instrumental music simply being marketed as “inspirational”.

Again, Christian-themed lyrics (particularly ones that emphasize something happy over all, not guilt-tripping) are certainly an aspect of Gospel too, but the music of Gospel in and of itself is identifyable too.

Gospel music is music written about the scriptures in the Bible, Used as a form of Praise and Worship for our Lord God. Christian music is rock music with some lyric pointing toward Christian beliefs.

Both are Not Grounded In Christianity. I have seen some of the Characters on a Poster while passing some Stores, and I gotta tell you, the Musicians Playing in these ” Christian & Gospel ” bands Look like they could easily fill in for Members of the Stones & Grateful Dead.
Imagine if you will, King David Playing his harp, dancing on a stage the way these Oufits do… Oh Please.
